Children use listening, reading and speaking in many parts of life. Drama gives them another setting to practise these skills, through stories and performance.
Reading with expression
Rehearsing a scene can involve thinking about what a line means and why a character says it. Parents can encourage discussion by asking what the character might be feeling, rather than testing whether a child has remembered every word.
Working towards a goal
Learning a song or dance involves revisiting small sections over time. Students can experience how practice changes a performance, and how their contribution fits with the rest of the group.
Enjoyment comes first
Theatre school is not tuition for school exams, and we do not promise improved grades. Choose a class because your child enjoys the activities and feels supported. Talk to their school about any specific educational concerns.
