One of the most frequent things parents in Romford, Hornchurch, and Upminster say to us is: "My child loves to sing at home, but they aren't a 'stage kid.' Is drama still right for them?"
At Dreams Theatre School, we believe the answer is a resounding yes. In fact, performing arts is often most beneficial for the children who don't naturally want to be in the spotlight.
Focusing on Skills, Not Just Stars
While we love seeing our students perform at professional theatres in Essex, our weekly sessions in Chelmsford and Shenfield are about much more than just the final bow. We use singing, dancing, and acting as tools to teach:
- Resilience: Trying a new dance move and getting it right after three tries.
- Social Ease: Learning how to maintain eye contact and speak clearly in a group.
- Teamwork: Supporting a "buddy" in a drama game.
A Place for Every Personality
Whether your child is the "class clown" or the "quiet dreamer," they have a place at our school. In our Romford branch, we see students from all walks of life—from athletes who want to improve their coordination to academic-focused children looking for a creative outlet after a long day of study.
Confidence for the Real World
Very few of our students will grow up to be professional actors—and that's okay! But almost all of them will grow up needing to go to job interviews, give presentations, or lead teams. Our Brentwood and Shenfield parents often tell us that the confidence their child gained with us helped them secure their first choice of secondary school.
Does this sound like your child?
We pride ourselves on being the most inclusive theatre school in Essex. No auditions, no "talent" requirements—just a willingness to have fun and try something new.
