Speaking Verse and Prose is a LAMDA route concerned with interpreting and communicating poetry and prose. It differs from acting a scene as a character.
Working with a text
A performer explores meaning, rhythm, pace and expression. The chosen exam and grade determine the material and other tasks required, so use the current syllabus when planning preparation.
Choosing suitable material
Interest in the writing matters. Discuss what the learner understands and enjoys, as well as the formal requirements. Avoid choosing a piece only because it sounds impressive.
